How to determine that the dumplings have gone bad? Main signs

There are situations in life when there is absolutely no time to cook or we just want to rest. In such cases, a tasty and fast dish - dumplings - comes to the rescue. But, despite the fact that they have a long shelf life, we need to know the conditions of their storage.

Signs of spoiled dumplings

Can dumplings go bad in the freezer

Under the right conditions, the shelf life of dumplings in the freezer is quite long, but when it expires, harmful bacteria will begin to develop in the meat and in the dough, which will make the product unfit for consumption. Therefore, at the end of the shelf life, even half-finished products stored in the freezer should be thrown out.

Signs of spoiled dumplings

The following signs indicate that the semi-finished products have spoiled:

  1. The dumplings stick together in one "pile".
  2. Have uneven color with gray spots.
  3. Cooked product has an unpleasant odor.
  4. Surface of dumplings covered with cracks.
  5. Stuffing protrudes over the edges of the semi-finished product.

Shelf life and conditions

In the fridge

If you need to store dumplings no more than 48 hours, the refrigerator is quite suitable for this. Put them in a large flat plate, separately from each other, and cover with clingfilm. The temperature in the refrigerator should not exceed +5°C.

In the freezer

In the freezer semi-finished products are stored much longer - for the entire shelf life, but only if the following conditions are met: a tray or cutting board should be sprinkled with flour and lay the dumplings at a small distance from each other. You can also divide them into portions and place them in containers or bags, sprinkling a little flour beforehand. For maximum shelf life, the temperature in the freezer should be between -18 and -24°C.

Storing boiled dumplings

Cooked dumplings are best consumed immediately, as they quickly lose their taste. They can be stored in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
