How milk affects the human body

Milk is a natural food product, natural and familiar to us since childhood. In his useful properties we are not used to doubt. Many people specifically buy farm, fatty milk to get the maximum health benefits from this wonderful product without any additives.

Milk is used in a huge number of recipes, added to drinks. Desserts without it are simply unimaginable.

How milk affects the human body

But recently we are hearing more and more often that pure milk is suitable for consumption only for children up to a certain age. There are a number of studies proving that the product is completely undigestible for adults and, what is more, harmful to health.

About ten years ago, scientists questioned all the useful properties of milk. By that time they managed to establish the real effect of cow's milk on the adult body in numerous experiments.

The composition of modern cow's milk

Milk has always been considered a balanced product containing:

  • A unique composition of proteins, fats and carbohydrates;
  • Calcium, essential for bones and teeth;
  • Vitamin D, like calcium, which strengthens bones, teeth, and promotes muscle tone.

But experiments in the last decade have shown that cow's milk can significantly affect the quality and length of our lives:

  1. Animal fats. High levels of animal fat lead to atherosclerosis of the blood vessels. As a consequence, heart attacks and strokes.
  2. Hormones. Milk, which is produced on an industrial scale on large farms, often contains particularly harmful substances for the body. The fact that the cows are fed special feed with hormones in order to get higher milk yields. This hormone, getting into the human body, can provoke the development of cancerous tumors. Men are particularly at risk.
  3. Lactose. This component causes allergies to cow's milk and other dairy products. One out of every four people in the world has lactose intolerance. The symptoms are all the same: upset stomach, nausea, diarrhea, colic.
  4. Calcium in cow's milk is practically impossible to absorb. Therefore, for most people, milk is not useful in this respect.
  5. The process of pasteurization of an industrial product kills most of the useful elements for the body.

Alternatives

You can replace cow's milk with coconut milk or rice milk. Soybean milk is especially similar in taste. And in terms of composition they are really similar, except, of course, the fat content.

You can replenish calcium with legumes and Chinese cabbage. These products are also enriched with other useful elements. Fish, almonds, sesame and dried apricots are rich in calcium. And the daily norm of vitamin D is contained in just 2 grams of fish oil.

The dairy industry has gone to great lengths to convince the consumer of the benefits of consuming milk. It has not disappeared from store shelves, despite the overwhelming evidence of its effects on the body. Although there has been a noticeable increase in the number of plant-based milk alternatives.

It is up to you, of course, to believe scientists or to trust your own experience and feelings. But the fact that humans are the only living creatures that consume milk as an adult makes you think twice. So listen to your body and monitor your reaction to eating certain foods. It may make a big difference in your life later in life.
