How energy affects the human body

Energy drinks are drinks that increase activity and performance due to the caffeine, taurine and other herbal additives they contain. They are especially popular among students, drivers and those who have to do without a normal sleep for a long time.

The Effects of Energy Drinks

A tin of energy drink costs on average between 50 and 150 rubles. Its taste is pronounced, fruity and very sweet. The product differs significantly from the usual carbonated drink. The effect comes quickly enough and depends on the metabolism: from 20 to 40 minutes after consumption. But after 2 hours, the effect weakens, so if the body is really exhausted, it only gets worse.

How Energy Affects the Human Body

Manufacturers add vitamins, ginseng and guava extract to the composition of energy drinks in order to veil the reputation of the drink harmful to health. Despite this, the governments of many countries impose a ban on the sale of certain brands of such drinks if the content of hazardous substances exceeds the norm. In our country the sale of energy drinks is allowed only from 18 years old, although recently they could be bought even by children.

The content of the drink and its effect on the body

  1. Caffeine is a substance that stimulates the active work of the brain, heart, increases blood pressure. It relieves fatigue and drowsiness and invigorates.
  2. Taurine is found in humans and animals. Responsible for normal functioning of organs, muscles, vision, and metabolism.
  3. Sugar - broken down into glucose and fructose. Replenishes the energy reserve of carbohydrates in the body.
  4. Melatonin is a hormone that regulates our biorhythms. Thanks to him, we are awake during the day and sleep at night.
  5. Vitamins - in energy drinks are usually added B vitamins, because their deficiency can cause a feeling of fatigue.
  6. Ginseng is an extract derived from a medicinal plant. Natural, often used in the treatment of neurological diseases, increases immunity, resistance to physical stress.
  7. Guava - a tropical fruit with nutritional, healing properties. It relieves stress, fatigue, hunger.

At first glance, everything is transparent and positive. But do not forget that each of these components is concentrated in one can of the drink and in this form is a nuclear mixture. When they are consumed at the same time, especially in higher doses, the following happens:

  • the heartbeat goes up;
  • the blood pressure rises;
  • blood sugar levels spike;
  • it releases hard-to-recover energy reserves;
  • kidney and liver function increases;
  • The gastrointestinal tract is negatively affected.

Consequences of abuse of energy drinks

With each time the effect of the energy drink weakens. The body begins to get used to them, and the desire to quickly feel invigorated and be active becomes stronger. Thus, in order to get the best result, some people drink more than one can of the "magic" substance. The nervous and digestive systems suffer from this in the first place.

Consequences of energy drink abuse

The fact is that no natural substance can replace a person's full, sound sleep. This is the only way for the body to replenish energy resources. The energy drink only temporarily masks the symptoms of fatigue, forcing the organs to work from the last effort.

In most cases, every second person already has problems with the gastrointestinal tract from improper diet, stress and bad habits. Energy drinks only aggravate the situation. Stomach pain, exacerbation of gastritis and pancreatitis, diarrhea, nausea are possible. In the presence of stomach or intestinal problems, it is recommended to refrain from drinking energy drinks.

To feel awake and full of energy, it is not necessary to resort to energy drinks. For a productive day at work, we need:

  • A proper, measured diet.
  • Sports and physical activity.
  • Yoga classes and walks in the fresh air.
  • A proper daily routine and healthy sleep.

Energy drinks can never replace any of these points, but only aggravate the situation. Don't overload your body with such powerful substances.
